We went for a walk with Dave (Dad) and "the girls" on Sandy Beach last Saturday. This is one of the only "real" beaches in Juneau. The "sand" is actually gold mine tailings from the Treadwell gold mine which was in operation in the late 18oo's through the early 1900's. You can't really see the sand as it is covered in snow.

Most people hit the beach when it is sunny and hot outside, not snowy and cold! Still looks like a lot of fun though.
