The ants go marching one by one right underneath the closet door jam! Two days ago, Emily moved my sandals away from the closet door so she could sweep and a colony of ants went scurrying from underneath. She claims there were at least 50! Nobody has been able to confirm or deny that claim. However, a single ant did crawl across my hand yesterday while I was grading papers. So far, this is the only evidence supporting the the 50-ant statement. Further research is needed to investigate the validity of the claim.
Meanwhile, Emily has put forth great effort in an attempt to thwart the influx of the tiny colonizing creatures. It seems to have slowed them momentarily, but I am sure they are building their troops and resources on the other side of the door jam and waiting patiently until they are strong enough to push the kleenex out of the way! In the mean time, Emily will continue to sleep with one eye open.......
