Emily and I went turkey hunting with Mark on Saturday. After an early morning of hard hunting (while Emily slept in the car), we decided to drive to a different spot. When we pulled over for a break, we opted to nap in the shade before resuming with afternoon hunting. Since Emily had already napped, she read a book and soaked up some sunny rays.
As she read, she noticed a spider crawling toward her on the grass. Not wanting to kill the spider, she 'flicked' toward it with her bookmark in the hopes that it would be scared and run away. Instead, the spider crawled closer and closer as she continued flicking. Finally, the spider was so close that Emily was forced to move her chair away.
When Mark and I awoke from our naps, she relayed the story and explained that she couldn't believe a spider would continue toward her when she was continually flicking at it. Mark and I absorbed the information and came up with some possible conclusions: 1) spiders do not have the ability to use logic 2) spider logic is seriously flawed since Emily could have easily squished the spider or 3) spiders have more logic than humans and can make humans move out of spider territory.
By the way, we didn't see any shootable turkeys during our afternoon hunt either. Ugh!
