Happy Halloween!

Attention: The following photos should be viewed with caution as they may be scary and creepy to some small children and infants (Jack). These are photos from our most recent Family Home Evening activity: pumpkin carving! Without any bias, please cast your vote on which pumpkin you like better. There just happens to be a hot fudge sundae riding on it. PS Vote for Dave....

Another Duck Day

Today was a good day on the water. It was a -4.3 tide and the ducks were really flying. Chad and I got 13 ducks in an hour. Our shooting wasn't bad either.

Boston Caramel Apples

This is what people without kids do on Saturday nights. They watch Red Sox games and make caramel apples. Take special note of Emily's new haircut. Cute eh?

Columbus Discovers America

It's a good thing Columbus discovered America (even though he didn't really discover it) because it is a federal holiday which allows federal employees, such as myself, to go goat hunting rather than work. Emily was not as lucky since the state does not recognize a holiday to celebrate Columbus' achievement.

It was a long hike up to this new spot on Monday but the view was spectacular at the top and we couldn't have picked a better day for a hike. However, there wasn't a living thing anywhere near the top because the snow level is down around 2500 feet already. Looks like the high-country goat season is all but over.

Ducks

It's not unheard of to shoot two boxes of shells in a couple hours. Today was a little slow but Chad and I did have one small group of surf scoters come close to the point and we got a couple; a drake and a hen. The drakes have interesting beak coloration. We are somewhat limited on when we can hunt as the point is only exposed during a low tide.

Learning to Ride

So I just learned to ride a bike for the first time this weekend. The balance is the hardest thing to learn. As you can see, I am about to take one of my many spills. Just kidding, so it's a little difficult to hit the timer on the camera and then ride into view but we made it happen. The trail we rode is the mendenhall wetlands refuge trail. It's right next to the airport. Great idea to put a bird sanctuary adjacent to an airport........

More Fish

I know, I know. They all look the same. Well, maybe to some of you.........

The Big Two Nine

We slept in, ate breakfast, and lounged around in the morning. A nasty stormed had rolled in the night before and we were glad to be inside. Emily opened her gifts around noon and then we took a nap before going out to dinner with Brad and Heather. After dinner, we came back to the house and sang, ate cake, and played a cutthroat game of Mexican Train Domonoes. We let Emily win a few games since it was her birthday. -Dave

Nick's eggs

Hey Ricker,
I hope this makes you jealous. This is a picture of me curing your eggs for LB1. I'll be sending him all the roe I get. Maybe you'll get to use some if you ever leave Korea. I gave Emily both of your phone numbers so she knows who to call when she sees the permanently-dyed counter top. I attached a photo of a nice silver I caught and a cutthroat I caught as well.

Fishing and Waffles...

Dave and I have resumed some of our favorite activities since returning from our reception/honeymoon vacation. Below are photos of life-as-usual back in Juneau...

Saturday morning breakfast (following the fishing) made with our new waffle maker...yummy!

Dave's Photos

Here are pictures that Dave took while out on a project for work...

I think that Jen and Dave should seriously consider going into business together selling photos

Labor Day in Seaside Oregon & Cannon Beach

The following photos are from the boys playing "Big Buck Hunter" in the arcade.

For those of you who are fans of the movie Goonies, Dave and I are pretty sure that the rocks behind us are the rocks Mikey lines up in the doubloon. Dave and I went to Cannon Beach by ourselves the day after Labor Day to see the sites.

SSB Golf Tourney

The following are pics from the first annual Stancliff, Scukanec, Beatley Golf Invitational Tournament. Steve took first place...he is featured in the video below for the "best tourney shot".
