We also have a few tomato plants, potatoes, broccoli, beans and hopefully corn. We will add a little lettuce and possibly cucumbers and then our garden should be complete. It has been so much fun to see our first garden grow!

Tulip Festival 2010

Dave, Ashley and I had the opportunity to visit the Tulip Festival on the last day of Ashley's visit. The weather was gorgeous and so were the flowers.

Visit from Ashley

The best thing about having friends and family come to visit is they get us out to see things we haven't yet experienced in Oregon. Ashley and I spent the first day of our weekend out at the Tillamook Cheese Factory where we tasted cheese curds, fudge, a variety of cheeses and a sampler dish of ice cream. I think we both thought the classic strawberry ice cream was the best. We left Tillamook and headed down Hwy 101 to Lincoln City to see the coast. The weather was beautiful (if only I had taken a camera that day). The photos below are from our second day of sightseeing. We visited the Japanese Gardens in Portland. What a beautiful oasis in the city.

Spring Break

Dave and I spent Sunday with Amy and the kiddos (Soren, Lucy, Will & Finn). The weather cooperated enough to let us enjoy some fun at the park and in the backyard. You'll notice that some of the photos are in black and white. I didn't realize the setting was wrong. Luckily Dave was paying attention.

Future Garden

Dave and I bought materials for our raised beds from Lowes on Saturday. Dave spent the rest of the day constructing the beds. I think he did a great job!

We ordered a soil/mulch mixture and had it delivered. Thus began the long process of loading the wheelbarrow and carting the soil to the backyard.

Pie

Emily baked a pie for a fundraiser at work. Fortunately, there was a piece left over. It was as delicious at it looks.

Trees

Emily and I went for a drive today in search of black and white images for our wall. We would like to create a collage of black and white tree photos. Here is a photo we took on our drive.

Experiment Results

Here are the results of the science experiment. After 1 day, the tiny balls grew and filled the glass.

I was visiting one of my favorite blogs today and saw this video. I was really touched by this message from Elder Busche. I think there is something for everyone in his talk. I hope you take the time to watch it...it is worth the 6 1/2 minutes.

Interior Design

This is the latest addition to our home decor. Emily simply covered canvas frames in our fabric of choice. Thirty minutes later, we had some new wall hangings.

Valentine's Day

We were surprised and delighted to see flowers popping up in our front lawn this week. Happy Valentine's Day!

Soren sent us a science experiment to try. We will keep you posted as we make observations.

Settling In

Emily has been using her new tools to build furniture and decorate our new home. It seems more like home each day.
